Making this website
|
I have been working really hard on making this new website. I am not a website builder by proffesion, but
a SAP Project Manager. Nevertheless I love to be creative on the web and hence I tried to make this website.
As a project manager, usually you make other people do the work and you make sure that it gets done. You guard
the planning, timing, costs and risk of a project. Since I am my own team in creating this website and I am doing
this in my own time, I experience nothing of the above. I do not have a budget (all tooling I use is shareware), I have
no time limit to make sure the site is delivered in time. The risks are minimum, if I fail to create this website, I
can always rely on the old site.
another advantage of making this website is, that I don't have to meet other people, hold meetings, write reports,
minutes. I don't have to stick to the Prince2 methodology, which saves me a lot of time.... ;o))

Sprucing up @ home
|
Last week we had to camp in our own home. The reason is the fact that we wanted our rooms to be spruced up.
Downstairs needed to be re-painted and because it looked so cool, we also decided to re-arrange the furniture,
which makes the room look bigger.
We were quite surprised to find that the room was so big. The previous owners of the house had decided
on a certain way of deviding the room into an office as well as a children's room. After 4 1/2 years we decided
it was time to make the changes, shifted the furniture to different places in the room. Now the room looks bigger.
The second floor, where we have the living room, dining room and kitchen was repainted as well. We went from salmon to white
and from terracotta to soft-pink (well I think it is pink, my wife thinks it is still terracotta).
This entire week, we 'camped in our own house', sort of. Everything was shifted from the walls, so that the
painters could do their work. They covered it all very neatly in plastic and covered the floor with some cardboard type
of cover. Nevertheless the house was covered in dust when they were finished.
So all in all it was quite a project, setting up the place so that they could work and re-arranging everything back, as well
as the cleaning of the house and we are still not ready with it all....

Presentation
|
Thursday, the 5th of November I had to travel 200 Km, twice, because we had a presentation for a client.
The aim of the presentation was to get on the shortlist of the client, so that he would send us a
RFP (request for proposal) for operational maintenance of his workplace management as well as SAP.
The presentation itself went pretty well, my part was minor, but nevertheless it was important. As the client
did not know that my company was able to do all the things he wanted to outsource, he was pretty impressed by us. Now
it looks like we will be put on the shortlist. I hope the client will do this, so that we can start working on the RFP.
